Basic Handgun Safety & Marksmanship Class:

This is an excellent way to start shooting or to tune up your skills. Instruction will cover:
Handgun design and types.
How to hold.
How to load and unload.
How to shoot safely and accurately.
How to clear basic jams and malfunctions
Preparation for the California Handgun Safety Certificate needed to purchase a handgun.
This class uses Glock 9mm handguns because the instructor has found them to be the easiest centerfire handgun for beginners to learn and experienced shooters to tune up their skills. The instructor is trained in the transition between Glocks and other types of handguns, so if you bring your own firearm you will start out with the rest of the class in the use of the Glock, then, and only as time permits, be able to receive instruction in your own firearm.
The format is comprised of approximately 4 1/2 to 5 hours of classroom theory and dry-fire instruction, with approximate 2 to 2 1/2 hours of live-fire experience.
You should register and pay in advance because classes are limited to
9 students and usually are full well before the day of the class.

Special Instructions: Class is from 9 AM to 5 PM. Please do not be late. If you have never been to Chabot Gun Club before, start your trip at least 1/2 hour before you think you need to. We are deep in the woods and the roads are slow and windy. We recommend you bring a lunch since we only have snack machines.
Do NOT bring your firearms or ammunition into the classroom!
Chabot Gun Club will not knowingly train anyone in this class who cannot legally be in possession of firearms. Students must be 21 years of age unless prior arrangements are made with the instructor.
